Another option for this machine is the use of three separate filters for up to two cups of coffee. The water tank is translucent and so you can know when to fill-up it. Because of the heating element you can make multiple cups and still be sure that each one is piping hot.

The machine was a bit challenging to learn to handle, especially as I was a bit fearful of the hot water maker and the frother. While you may not have observed in a coffee shop, the units do make deafening sounds and can be very upsetting if not prepared for them. However, I have gotten used to them, thankfully.

I have tried more than one of these types of machines before deciding on my XP4050. Some I returned as they just did not make the coffee hot enough for my tastes. So, I have done a bit of research and experimentation, and I would say that the Krups XP4050 is probably second to the top of the list of coffee machines of this kind.
